Often people find that painful experiences and relationships in their past mean that things in the present can be complicated and sometimes hard to bear. They affect how we feel about ourselves, how we feel about the world and how we relate to other people we encounter. Psychotherapy helps by creating a safe space in which our most painful thoughts and feelings can be explored in order to understand better the past and so create more fulfilling possibilities for the present and future. Working together we’ll explore what brought you to therapy now and think together about where the difficulties in your present might have come from. I will listen very carefully to you in order to appreciate what you are feeling so that we can begin to see how you might find a greater freedom in your life.
I have over 25 years experience listening to people and supporting them with emotional difficulties and I work as a psychodynamic psychotherapist which means that helping you is based in the relationship that develops between us.
An initial session or two should be enough to know whether I am the right person for you to talk with and, after that, therapy can last a number of weeks or months or sometimes much longer if that’s helpful.
Getting to me
My practice, located in Kingston, is easily accessible and only a short walk or bus ride from both Kingston and Surbiton stations. It is served by a number of local buses and metered parking is also available.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
