My Approach

I am a solution focussed therapist and I draw upon a variety of different modalities including CBT, NLP, Eriksonian hypnotherapy & person centred therapy, adapting my approach to suit your needs. I work collaboratively with my clients. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, and our therapeutic journey can help you discover your unique abilities.

I integrate my nutritional therapy training into my psychotherapeutic practice to provide holistic professional support. As a university lecturer teaching part-time on a BSc (Hons)in nutritional therapy, I keep abreast of the latest research evidence re nutrition and mental health. I am a BANT registered nutritional therapist so can provide professional support with diet, supplements & functional testing as well as working with your medical team if required.

About Me

I am a neuro-affirmative, psychotherapist and nutritional therapist specialising in eating disorders/disordered eating, body image, bariatric surgery support and neurodiversity. I provide a compassionate space where we can work together to enable you to develop a healthier relationship with yourself and food.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Contemporary Psychotherapy, Master Diploma in Eating Disorders, a BSc (Hons) in Nutritional therapy, a PGcert in teaching adults as well as further specialist training in bariatric surgery, neurodivergence and diversity including LGBTQIA+. I have lived and worked overseas for many years so I am familiar with many cultural practices.

I have been in private practice since 2006 and as an experienced practitioner, I am aware of the often complex nature of our challenges. In my practice I see a diverse range of clients. I recognise that you are a unique individual and my aim is to meet you where you are now in life and help empower you to achieve your goals.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I am a neuro-affirmative therapist with further training in this area. I recognise how challenging it can be to live in a neuro-typical world and how this can lead to anxiety, depression, lack of confidence and work/relationship issues. My aim is to help you recognise and celebrate your unique strengths as well as manage your challenges so that you feel empowered. Many ADHD people experience issues with eating behaviour and may have disordered eating/eating disorders. I can support you with this.
Many autistic people experience issues with eating behaviour and may have disordered eating/eating disorders, including ARFID. I can support you with this.
I spent 3 years working as a counsellor for Bereft, a local bereavement charity. I understand how distressing bereavement can be and how one can feel 'stuck' in life following the death of a loved one. Grief can often be a lonely place or a roller coaster ride through different emotions, where no-one understands what you are going through. With the right support, it can also be a time of personal growth and healing. I provide a compassionate space where you can explore your feelings and thoughts at your own pace.
I work with all types of eatings disorders/disordered eating including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, ARFID and atypical anorexia. I completed the master diploma in eating Disorders at the National Centre for eating Disorders in 2013. Since then I have completed further training in eating disorders and neurodiversity, bariatric surgery support (nutritional and psychological) and trauma.
I combine nutritional therapy and psychotherapy in my practice so can offer you support in both areas. The mind body connection is now well recognised and I have found that working with diet and lifestyle as well as psychotherapeutically, has benefitted many of my clients. I am a BANT registered nutritional therapist, with a BSc (Hons) in nutritional therapy and health sciences, so my practice is evidence based and I am happy to work with your medical team if required. I can provide advice on diet, supplements and functional testing.
