Family & Systemic Psychotherapist she/her
jolawtherapy@protonmail.com
I have worked in the Mental Health field since 1996 and qualified as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist in November 2015. I now work independently, mainly from The Sunflower Centre in Brockley SE London, but I also see a number of clients on-line.
My approach, when working with individuals, couples and families, is an integrative one, but is grounded in Social Constructionist and Narrative Theory. I invite my clients to embark on a collaborative journey with myself, to think about personal and /or relational difficulties and to co-create a context where desired change can happen.
My aim is to practice in an anti-opressive way, paying close attention to intersectionality and a de-colonising framework where appropriate.
I can offer therapeutic work for relationship difficulties, depression, bereavement/loss, abuse, anxiety, anger problems, addiction problems, eating difficulties and behavioural difficulties.
I believe the Therapeutic Relationship is crucial to any successful course of therapy. I find the practice of Mindfulness to be very helpful in the development of this relationship, and will also offer this as a therapeutic tool, where appropriate.
When working with children, young people and their families, I will often offer less conversational tools, as a way of exploring relationships and difficulty, such as the use of toys, drawing, music or sculpts.

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
