My Approach

I believe that people can gain strength through change with and alongside others and that my job as a therapist is to support and assist that change. I work collaboratively with individuals, couples and families across the life span and aim to provide a calm space where differing thoughts and feelings can be safely explored.
I take 'family' to describe any group of people who define themselves as such and am happy to work with whoever you identify as important to you. I acknowledge the importance of people's different beliefs, cultures, contexts and life experience and will adapt my way of working according the family members' ages, needs, resources and preferences.

About Me

I have over 40 years experience of working therapeutically within, Health, Education, Social Service and voluntary organisations. I am now retired from the NHS and work privately in South Oxfordshire, working mainly with couples and families. Face to face in Abingdon and Henley or online. Home visits are also possible after initial assessment.

I work with

  • Children and young people
  • Couples
  • Families
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Working with families to find ways of supporting a family member on the Spectrum and reduce stress and conflict
Helping parents work together in managing challenging behaviour. Many couples and families I see are separated parents trying their best to joint parent their children often with unresolved issues between themselves. Also couples in their second or third relationship negotiating the complexities of changing relationships for themselves and their children, even when adults.
Helping to improve all types of relationships, whether couple, parents and children (even when adults) or whole families at all life stages is very rewarding
I trained and practiced individual and group supervision with Relate. After working as a family therapist in the NHS I also trained as a Family Therapy Supervisor at the Tavistock Clinic. I provided individual and group supervision for my CAMHS team and other professional groups before retiring. I now offer private supervision to individually therapists , either family therapists or from other modalities.
