As a group-analytic psychotherapist, I offer group, couples and individual therapy. Group analysis helps in understanding and managing problems in terms of your relationships at home, at work, past and present. This holistic approach is influenced by my experience in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) where relationship patterns are identified and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) where thought patterns are recognised. The important relationship between mind and body is also considered.
The earlier part of my professional career was as a teacher, trainer, advocate and counsellor, working with adults and young people, including in the care system.
Before practising privately in London Bridge and North London, I worked in the psychotherapy department of an NHS teaching hospital. I am a tutor and group conductor on a training course for psychodynamic psychotherapy and counselling, facilitate reflective practice groups for staff and co-lead Balint groups - for GPs and for educators. I was a board director of FPC and am actively involved in the Group Analytic Society International. I am a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance and of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Union.
My approach
A group-analytic outlook is psychodynamic and keeps in mind all aspects of a client’s life. I am influenced by experience in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) whose emphasis is on patterns of relating. I am familiar with and employ aspects of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which tends to concentrate on habits of thinking.
I offer supervision and have a particular interest in supporting teachers, healthcare and social workers.
