My Approach

In an Arts Pschotherapy session you can use the creative materials I will have on offer to help support you to express difficult emotions and work through problems. Some sessions might be very similar to traditional counselling - the work is led by you, and the space is yours to speak about issues and be heard in a non-judgemental environment. Some sessions, you might paint or draw, share a recording of a favourite song, choose a postcard or image, or work with clay. However you choose to use the time, we will work together to build up a unique, empathic and supportive relationship. Research shows that it is this relationship which is the most important factor in the success of your therapy or counselling.

Arts psychotherapy can help you if:

You are feeling stuck
You are feeling overwhelmed by emotions
You are experiencing anxiety or depression
You want to unlock your creativity and passion
You have tried counselling or psychotherapy before and are looking for a new approach
You are someone who gets "stuck in your head" a lot.

About Me

I am a UKCP and HCPC registered integrative arts psychotherapist offering short and long term one to one therapy and creative counselling for adults in Barking, East London and online.

I am supportive of gender and sexual diversity, including trans people and those who are questioning their gender identity or experiencing gender dysphoria. My work with trans people won the 2021 British Association of Art Thertapists New Practitioner prize, and has been published in the International Journal of Art Therapy. I also work with those whosethose whose relationship styles might be considered alternative. As well as my private practice, I work for Spectra as part of their Trans Empowerment Programme offering peer-led counselling and Art Therapy.

I celebrate neurodiversity and am supportive of the experience and challenges faced by people with specific learning difficulties, ADHD and autism. I also work with people with a learning disability, including those who are non-verbal.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work through a neurodiversity lens, supporting people to understand, accept and work with their autism (or other neurodivergence!). I work with a wide range of presentations including people who are non-verbal some or all of the time.
I have 80 hours of post qualification CPD in online working. I have pioneered an award winning online arts-journalling approach.
I am highly experienced working with queer clients, including those who are double-marginalised due to race, culture, religion and/or disability.
I deliver training in a variety of settings including in the NHS, for charity organisations, and for student therapists, on a range of topics such as creative techniques for non-art therapists, self supervision skills, working with LGBTQ+ people and particularly trans people. My training is creative, experiential, and impactful.
I work with people of all genders, including those who are questioning their gender. I have been involved with the Ban Conversion Therapy coalition, and I teach student therapists about working with trans people in a supportive way.
