Clients who see me present with a range of issues including experiencing Childhood Trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, challenging behaviour/ emotional difficulties in children, addiction, grief , and complex child protection issues. I also have a great deal of experience in helping families who are going through separation and divorce and have trained in EMDR (parts 1 and 2) which means I specialise in helping clients who have experienced trauma.I have some experience in working with clients diagnosed with both autism and ADHD although I am not a specialist in these areas.
I have some additional training in Mentallisation based treatment for families, adolescents and in the basic Mentalisation based treatment training. Alongside my previously working at the Anna Freud centre this means I have extensive experience of working with clients who may have a diagnosis of borderline (or emotionally unstable)personality disorder.
I try to create an environment in which clients can feel comfortable to talk to me about important aspects of their lives. I believe in being open about my own thinking as I have found that most people want a therapist who offers them ideas and hopefully some expertise. I try to do this in a way that encourages a dialogue and in a way that helps clients to access their own insight, expertise, skills and qualities.
I have worked as Head of Clinical Practice in Both Harrow and Kensington and have taught at the University of East London on the Professional Doctorate course in Educational and Child Psychology, as well as for Frontline, the Tavistock and The Centre for Systemic Social work
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
