I am a Systemic Psychotherapist, which means that I work with the stuck and recurring patterns that develop in relationships, gently supporting change to allow new, healthier patterns to emerge.
I am a Systemic Family and Couples Therapist with more than 20 years experience of clinical work in the NHS and Voluntary sector. I have a small private practice in Totnes working with couples.
As well as my clinical practice I am a Senior Lecturer at Exeter University, leading an MSc in Systemic Therapy and Systemic Courses
on the Clinical Doctorate in Psychology programme.
Within my couples work I integrate different approaches, including ideas from Emotion Focussed Therapy and from the Exeter Model.
As a partner, parent and step-parent I bring my own experience of what it means to be in different complex relationships, while listening and seeking to understand my clients' unique experiences.
I am also trained in the Incredible Years parenting approach, which I bring to my work with parents.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
