In my professional experience I find it useful to meet with everyone in the
household at least for the first session when that is appropriate (unless you are
requesting an individual appointment for yourself or it is more appropriate to meet with me as a couple without children present). I find that when family members have an opportunity to discuss their concerns together, they are often a resource to one another and can find new perspectives to tap into the resilience they already have to manage this. It is also useful to me to be able hear everyone’s point of view, so that I get a wider picture. I am passionate about finding useful and positive frames to increase options and to explore possibilities for change.
I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and an HCPC Registered Clinical
Psychologist based in Cardiff. With over 40 years of practice as a psychotherapist
and counsellor working with couples, families and individual adults and children,
I have experience within a range of setting. These include private practice and
independent psychotherapy services (The Family Institute from 1988 to 2019) as well
as in-patient and community based psychiatric services.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
