Hello! I'm Janine.
We all face difficult times in our lives. You may be struggling with a situation or feeling challenged by a relationship, you may be managing a difficult life decision, you may be trying to work out what is best for you. Sometimes our emotions can feel overwhelming and it is harder to think clearly. Therapy can offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to talk through these situations, thoughts and emotions, a place to explore what choices you have and how to manage best for you. Having a space to talk can help to provide some understanding and clarity. I will be supporting you through this process.
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I am also trained as a Psychotherapist. I am accredited with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and work in accordance with their codes of ethics. By following this I adhere to practicing confidentially, I continue my professional development with regular training and my work is appropriately supervised.
Through settings such as GP practices and an NHS mental health provider, I have work with a wide range of issues. These include: anxiety and stress, low mood and depression, loss and bereavement, difficult emotions, relationship issues, family issues, work-related issues, self-confidence and identity issues, childhood issues, past and present trauma and abuse.
Through these settings I have offered short-term and medium-term counselling and long-term psychotherapy.
I trained as an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor which means I trained in different therapy models and I incorporate these in the sessions I provide to you. I have trained in Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, person-centred therapy and psychotherapy. I believe therapy should be flexible to fit each person and I don’t believe in one treatment fits all.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I have experience in a high-pressured, target-driven, marketing and data-gathering office environment. I also have a background in music.

The first session
In your first session with me we will talk through confidentiality, your expectations of therapy and what you hope to gain from therapy and the goals we can work towards. You can also see if I am the right therapist for you going forward as it is important for you to feel comfortable with the therapy and therapist you choose. There is no obligation to continue after this session.
Get in contact
I know making the first step to starting therapy can be hard. You can get in contact with me by phone or email and I will reply within 1 week to arrange a free 20-minute phone call where you can ask questions and we can arrange the first session.
