My Approach

A diagnosis is not important to access CAT and other psychological therapies. CAT is a focused interpersonal therapy which aims to develop a shared understanding of presenting difficulties. Therapy is tailored to the individual and I draw on my experience and training as a Psychotherapist and Psychologist.

About Me

Hello, My name is Jackie Withers. I am a UKCP Registered CAT Psychotherapist, ACAT Accredited Supervisor and HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical & Forensic). I have over 35 years experience working across a range of mental health services. I began my career as a Nurse and retrained as a Clinical Psychologist. I then completed a substantial amount of training in a range of psychological therapies. I gained my first Consultant Psychologist post 30 years ago. I am now semi retired but have a small private practice. I offer private appointments on Tuesdays. I offer a professional and confidential service drawing on my breadth of clinical experience working with adults with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma & abuse, grief & loss, relationship difficulties, work related stress, addiction problems and eating disorders.
I am located on the Worcestershire Gloucestershire border.
For further information please contact me for a free no obligation 20 minute telephone consultation via jackiewithers@jackiewithersconsultany.co.uk or call me on 07722843956.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Many adult mental health problems have their origins in a trauma history. I have worked with clients with complex mental health difficulties who have present in a wide range of clinical settings. I have experience working with childhood trauma and PTSD when it is causing a wide range of often confusing emotional and relationship difficulties. CAT is my preferred way of working but I have also completed training in CBT, Schema therapy, DBT and a range of trauma specific therapies such as EMDR.
Anxiety problems, like depression, is a common experience and can present or manifest in varied ways, addictions phobias, agitation, sleep problems, obsessive behaviour etc. As an ex nurse (General and psychiatric), Dual Chartered Psychologist & Psychotherapist I have extensive experience.
I have experience working with a wide range of mental health issues.
CAT is an interpersonal therapy and as such is an excellent approach for working with relationship difficulties.
I am an ACAT Accredited supervisor. I have supervised many CAT therapists completing practitioner and psychotherapy level training, as well as experienced registered therapists. I have experience supervising a range of health professionals, e.g. Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses Psychiatrists, and Counsellors . I have also completed training as an Organisational Psychologist and have an interest in team consultation and reflective practice.
