My Approach

My approach is relational and dialogic which means the work between us takes place in the context of a conversation and with our mutual engagement. Gestalt therapy offers the client and the therapist opportunities to work creatively and with an attitude of curiosity. I am interested in how your experience and mine can be used to increase your awareness of yourself and to explore what is hidden or out of reach. I have an interest in attachment and how our experiences in early life are carried forward into adulthood and other relationships. Together we will look at patterns that no longer serve you, at places you feel stuck and at how you can access and act on your feelings in ways that feel aligned with who you are.

About Me

I am a qualified Integrative Gestalt Psychotherapist. I have BACP accreditation and have been working in a variety of settings both in the voluntary sector, in the NHS and as a private practitioner since 2016 when I qualified as a counsellor. During this time I have worked with many individuals and many different presenting issues.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Like depression, anxiety can limit one's capacity to function and responses to stress can suddenly be intolerable . Anxiety can have a debilitating impact upon individuals and prevent the sufferer from taking remedial action.
Bereavement usually describes the loss of a loved person (or animal) but it can include other losses such as familiar places (solastalgia) and parts of ourselves through divorce, separation, redundancy, retirement and any significant loss.
Depression is a loss of pleasure in one's life or a feeling of overwhelming lack of interest in life. It is often a response to difficult events or situations that feel intractable.
Relationships are key in our lives and the ways in which we are "in relation" as parents, sons and daughters, siblings, lovers, spouses, partners and friends are ways in which we experience ourselves reflected back. When relationships end or are troubled or if someone is finding it hard to maintain relationships this can be a source of distress.
