My formal training is in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy (at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing, London) which I use as a model for integrating my understanding of psychological structures, neurobiology, trauma and other modalities. But mostly it's about you and me: How I can help you feel heard, understood, safe? Many mental struggles boil down to people feeling they are somehow wrong or defective ("I'm not OK" in TA language), and defending themselves from their authentic feelings through painful and exhausting mental gymnastics and unhelpful behaviours. Our job in therapy is to help you understand that you and your feelings are "OK" and then make it OK to feel those feelings in the session, so we can make sense of them together and release you from the internal struggle you have been going through.
Finding a match between you and a therapist isn't always easy or immediate, you may wish to interview several, which is why I offer a free 20 minute "chemistry" session on zoom where you can get a feel for whether we are a good fit.
I am a warm, reflective, energetic person with over 30 years' experience in the field of personal development and started training to be a counsellor in 2011. I offer full commitment to you and your journey to a fuller, more satisfying life. Grieving loss, whether it be bereavement or developmental loss is an important part of many kinds of therapeutic work and I particularly appreciate accompanying clients in this challenging and often beautiful experience.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
