My Approach

Gestalt Psychotherapy is a psychotherapy of health rather than pathology; ways that you might have learned to be in the world will have likely protected you in the past and the challenge may be that there's a lack of flexibility with new experiences, keeping you feeling stuck. Context plays a huge part in how we learn to view our world and we sometimes stay with a lens, learned in a restricted context, afraid or unsupported to change our lens. Therapy can help with that.

I work relationally which means essentially that we sit together and talk and trust in the process of what arises between us. Gestalt pays attention to both body and mind, being a holistic approach and looks more at 'how' are you doing x rather than 'why' are you doing x. By exploring what it is to be you right now in your world, more potential choices become available out of that increased awareness. Dealing with hurts of the past or fears of the future can be lonely - I will stand with you, without judgement, and with the optimal amount of support to help you listen more closely to yourself and find momentum again.

About Me

I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist offering a safe, non-judgemental presence with the optimal amount of support or challenge to explore what you need to take the next step to where you want to be - whether that's being able to be fully present where you are or into new ways of being in the world.

I grew up in a small town in Ireland and spent some time in New York and LA. I've lived in London since the mid-80s.

I trained at the Metanoia Institute where I gained an MSc and Clinical Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy. I have a BA in Psychology, a BA in Philosophy and an MSc in Organisational Change. I started my career in books and newspaper publishing, eventually working in change and engagement in large corporates and ultimately training as a Psychotherapist.
