Welcome!
In my work, I have trained in a range of psychotherapeutic modalities. I draw upon a broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic knowledge and tune my approach to match the uniqueness of each individual I work with. I use visualisation techniques and relaxation strategies to enable the releasing of old trauma.
Sometimes we can experience feelings of despair and anxiety without really knowing where they are coming from and why we are struggling to cope. Invariably, many of the difficulties in adult life have origins in childhood trauma or adverse circumstances that have been previously traumatic. We can be triggered into states of depression and fright without knowing why. Psychotherapy can be an opportunity to make the appropriate psychological links and find relief from feelings of persecution by our own emotional states or frightening memories.
At the heart of what I do, is to support you and work alongside you as a compassionate companion through the challenges you might be facing. I see the process of psychotherapy as a partnership in creative care and solution-focused exploration, with resolution. My primary aim would be to help you find the best way to live your life for you.
I have a particular specialist knowledge, expertise, empathy and passion to support women experiencing birth fear, trauma and loss in their journey through pregnancy, birth and parenthood.
It is always challenging to take the first step towards asking for help. Personal chemistry plays a big part in facilitating trust towards working together, so I thought I would let you know a little about my experiences and background.
I have been in the field of mental health, having worked in the NHS, for over twenty years and in private practice I have helped people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds and with a wide range of emotional difficulties such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, grief, low self-esteem and loss .
I also have experience in working with :
* Generalised Anxiety Disorder
* Depression
* Feeling sad
* Panic Disorder
* Dealing with serious physical health issues
* Men's Mental Health
* Work related issues
* Anger management
* Chronic health conditions
* Body issues surrounding ageing
* Post-natal Depression
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
