Hello and welcome to my profile.
Life can throw some unexpected and difficult times at us. This is probably even more true than ever at the moment! Reaching out for support is a first step towards working through these difficulties. Sometimes it might feel like you will never feel better, but counselling or psychotherapy can support you towards finding life's challenges more manageable.
I aim to create a friendly and warm atmosphere. I see therapy as a meeting of who people, who work collaboratively through whatever it is that the you want to bring to therapy. My work has a focus on grief and loss and more recently I have been moving towards working with issues around parenting, identity and belonging. Sometimes it's hard to find words to express our feelings, so I also offer creative ways of working such as drawing or Mindfulness.
Choosing a therapist to work with is a very personal decision, and sometimes even making the first step can feel daunting. I offer an initial phone consultation to answer any questions and you can see if I'm the right therapist for you.
Before coming into psychotherapy my background was in International Development. I also have experience working with adults with learning disabilities. The thread that runs through all of my work is a passion for working with people and the value to individuals of having their stories heard.
I believe that through the therapist-client relationship real and lasting change can occur. My work has a humanistic approach meaning that I believe that in the right environment people have a tendency towards growth. My job is to help to provide that environment, and support you in whatever difficulties you might be facing.
