My approach is based on a range of professional clinical experience over 20 years. I aim to work flexibly, with a core focus on each person’s specific needs. I have found that talking and thinking with an experienced therapist, in a confidential therapeutic environment, can offer the possibility of developing new ways of thinking, understanding and insight into patterns of relating. I also believe in the creative and therapeutic potential of groups and their capacity to meaningfully contain difficult, intimate, ambivalent and sometimes strong emotions. Working both individually and in groups, creates a space for change in the present and hope for the future.
I offer group and individual psychotherapy in central Bath and online. We can initially talk through your ideas and hopes around contacting a therapist and then make a plan together.
I have 20 years experience of working with adults individually and in groups; offering therapy for a wide range of themes such as relationships and complex emotional needs. I am also a sculptor and a meditator.
I have worked as an Occupational therapist and Adult Psychotherapist in the NHS and Social Services. After graduating in Occupational therapy in 2005, I worked in a number of NHS Mental health adult inpatient and community teams, in social services and with trainee doctors. I began a training in Group Analytic Psychotherapy in 2009 and over the following decade, qualified as a Group Analyst. I continued working in the NHS as a Group Analyst until 2024. I became an accredited Mentalization based therapy (MBT) Practitioner in 2023. I now work in private practice.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
