I have some places within my therapy group, which meets in person, once weekly, in a fully accessible building, South of Bath.
We meet for 1.5 hours, in the early evening. There are breaks for Easter, August, Christmas and the half terms.
I often hear people say that they don't 'do' groups, well actually we all start off in groups, so group therapy can be an ideal place to explore difficulties that have arisen in life.
Group analysis is a form of therapy that is based on the idea that our individual difficulties happen within a larger context, often in our relationships with others and society as a whole.
In the work, the focus is on the here and now in the group room, as well as the origins of concerns, in order to help make different choices and lasting change.
The group is not a social group in the conventional sense - people do not meet each other outside of group time - we use first names only to maintain confidentiality and people have not met before joining the group.
The sense of belonging that a group of this type can provide, is often healing in itself.
Issues such as anxiety and depression can often find relief in a therapy group.
I offer several individual sessions to begin with so that we can discuss if joining the group would be the most useful route.
I do charge for these sessions.
I am a fully qualified therapist and Group Analyst registered with UKCP and accredited with BACP. I began psychotherapy work with individuals nearly 20 years ago and am now also an experienced group analyst.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
