I am also a specialist Workplace counsellor.
My background in counselling:
For a number of years, I managed the Counselling function for Sunderland City Council. During that time I directly provided counselling to over 500 people working in education, social services and corporate departments. Before this, I worked as a psychotherapist at a Women's charity in Northumberland and also as a psychotherapist and counsellor within the NHS.
What outcome you can expect:
My basic aim is to help you feel more in control of your life. Some of my clients leave my sessions armed with effective self-help techniques so that they can manage their problems or distress better. Others come away feeling unburdened from previous issues, sadness and anxieties. Nearly all my clients develop enhanced self-awareness and understanding.
Our sessions will allow you to explore your past and current situation with the aim of deciding upon positive changes for your future and the direction you would like your life to take.
Where sessions are held:
My practice is conveniently located within a beautiful therapy practice, Chapter House, on Preston Road in North Shields. I also have an additional consulting room within a private Victorian residence in Tynemouth. Both are within easy reach of Newcastle by car and public transport and have free parking near by.
My therapeutic approach:
I can work with you on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. I am an Integrative counsellor which means that I use a range of different approaches to help you:
CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
Self-help strategies
Sand-tray therapy
Guided imagery
Attachment theory
Transactional analysis
