My Approach

Transpersonal psychotherapy is about seeing issues (mental, emotional, or physical) or other challenges as a inner call to look more closely at something in our lives that is not working or that needs attention. In listening to this call we begin to access a more authentic self and to start to find greater fulfilment in life. I work closely with the body to help access the unconscious processes and the authentic self as well as with creative imagination using dreams, symbols, archetypes, guided visualisation, EFT and drawing.
As well as the transpersonal I draw on the following models of therapy such as psychodynamic, person-centred, existential, Gestalt and Cognative Behavioural Therapy. Essentially the psychodynamic model looks at unconscious processes and how past experiences can impact the present. In person-centred therapy the main focus is on a congruent and authentic relationship between client and therapist, allowing the client to find their own answers and inner resources. The existential model focuses on the givens of human existence, freedom and associated responsibility, death, isolation and meaninglessness. Gestalt therapy focuses on immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour and to better understand the way we relate to others. This increased awareness can help to find a new perspective, see the bigger picture and start to effect changes. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) identifies thought patterns and ways of changing them to feel more balanced.
I ama empathic, insightful and non-judgmental and offer a confidential, reliable and reflective space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. Bringing awareness to one's thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour we become more conscious of how we communicate, how we form and maintain relationships or how we manage conflict, change or loss. Knowing and accepting oneself more fully can feel empowering and lead to a better quality of life. When the impact of the past lessens we are free to engage more fully with life from a place that is more authentic, more of who we truly are. It allows us to make different choices and we become more present to ourselves and the people in our lives.

I offer short and long-term therapy usually on a weekly basis. Individual sessions are 50 minutes and couples counselling sessions are 90 minutes.
