My Approach

Hello, and welcome to my profile! I really appreciate you considering me as your therapist. Looking for someone to share your concerns with is a really great step towards improving your mental health. It is also a very brave thing to do!

During the sessions, you are welcome to share anything you would like about past, present, or future. I am also happy to ask you questions and give insights about what you have already shared. Oftentimes, something that happened during your week, and the way you process how you felt about it, can open up a discussion about your coping patterns and way of relating to others. This in turn can help us understand yourself better, as well as how it is that you would like to live life, and how to achieve that.

I provide weekly psychotherapy sessions (currently over Zoom) at a standard time and day of the week that we can agree on together. I usually work on an open-ended, long-term basis. However, I am happy to offer shorter term contracts if you feel that this is what would work best for you and your situation.

About Me

My main focus is building a strong and empathic relationship with you, so we are able to explore all aspects of your self and your experience, and what they mean for you. Together, we can find ways to enhance your sense of well-being, and help you become your fuller self, however this might look like for you.

I can provide therapy in both English and Greek.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety is a very common reason to seek therapy- in fact, I would be surprised if not almost everyone in the world has some sort of anxiety. However, at times it can feel debilitating and accumulative, in the way that life itself feels very stressful and difficult. Talking to a therapist about how you experience your anxiety as well as what might be making you anxious is a really great way of being able to untangle your inner worries, and work towards leading a calmer, more enjoyable life.
People at times refer to physical and mental health as two separate entities. However, it is really important to be able to discuss your physical health with someone that can help you understand how you feel in your body, what your potential triggers might be, and how your physical and mental health might be intertwined. Oftentimes, individuals that suffer with a physical health ailment might feel loss of control over their life, which in turn leads to anxiety and depression symptoms. Being worried about you or your loved ones getting sick is also something very common that can affect your mental health, and it really does help discussing it with a professional. I have an additional interest in helping individuals with women's health issues, as well as hidden disabilities (or “coming-and-going” disabilities).
Being a parent can be the best thing you’ll ever do, but this doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with its challenges! I can help with family planning (including when things don’t go to plan, such as infertility or baby loss), pregnancy, prenatal and postnatal worries for both parents, postpartum depression, and breastfeeding issues amongst other things. I can also help with issues concerning older children.
At times the word "relationships" seems to refer to only romantic ones, and certainly romantic relationships are an important part of life. However, a relationship can also refer to the relationship with your parents or relatives, friends, colleagues, and most importantly, yourself. A large part of the work I do aims to help individuals feel love and trust for themselves, which in turns helps them interact with others in a less stressful, and more fulfilling way.
Having been a student myself (first of Psychology, then of Psychotherapy), I understand the stresses and pressures that come from being a student. Managing the balance between your studies and personal life can be difficult enough. However, a lot of people also have additional financial pressures, not getting support from loved ones, having moved away from home and at times experiencing cultural issues, et cetera. The psychotherapy training presents its own special challenges, as its main focus is interacting with others and trying to deeply understand yourself and those around you. During the Covid-19 pandemic, students have had the additional issue of not being able to actually experience student life as it should be. If you are looking for support during your training years, please don't hesitate to contact me!
