My Approach

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. My work focuses on short and long term psychotherapy, evidence-based short-term individual and trauma counseling, critical incident support, and assessments of clients’ psychological wellbeing. I use an experiential approach with my clients drawing on a variety of treatment modalities to inform my practice like; person centered, CBT, psychodynamic, solution focused therapy, compassion therapy, motivational interviewing and attachment theory to help resolve personal, social and mental problems.
I have continued to enhance my skills and abilities by using a holistic transpersonal approach to address various facets in my clients’ lives. That way clients have been able to make more informed life choices, enabling them to cope better with various life challenges.

Over the past twenty years of my career in therapeutic work with clients, I have a clearer focus of linking theory to clinical practice. In these years I have witnessed changes in the clients I have worked with.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

For fifteen years (2003 - 2018), I worked as a Sexual Health Adviser and as a Counsellor in various NHS Sexual Health Clinics, eg Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London and Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow, Middlesex. An important function of my role was to assess and provide early crisis intervention work and short to long term counselling to several patients addressing physical, personal, and psychological/emotional health issues that had arisen from diagnosis of STIs/HIV or other concerns associated with sexual health and relationships.
I have supported clients presenting with varied anxiety symptoms for over 15 years. I am able to work effectively with clients to acquire coping strategies to manage their symptoms and over them so that the client can reengage with life and live fully
From October 2020, I offer remote services as an oncologist counsellor, for Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, Middlesex. The main function of this role is to support patients; to learn how to cope with their diagnosis, manage anxiety and depression, coping with side effects, uncertainty about the future and dealing with emotional concerns about self-image, body image, intimacy and sex
I have worked as an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) counsellor, providing brief solution focused counselling, drawing on CBT techniques to support employees of different organisations like PHE, DFID, NHS, Transport of London etc. I have experience in doing psychological wellbeing assessments to identify clients needs. Some of the issues I have supported clients with are; workplace conflicts, workplace related trauma, mental health concerns including anxiety and depression, grief and loss, relationship problems, substance abuse issues and redundancies.
Since 2018, I have been working remotely with Health in Mind Scotland as a trauma counsellor supporting clients who have experienced childhood abuse. A major function of my role is to provide a grounded safe presence, as I offer clients grounding strategies in “the here and now”, so as clients begin to explore their trauma, they feel safe whilst being listened to
