I am a fully qualified psychotherapist, accredited by UKCP, and have over 18 years experience helping clients to clarify and resolve their life problems in a variety of settings, within the NHS and in private practice. I offer my passion, my professional skills and help with many emotional issues including anxiety, depression, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, family conflicts, trauma, loss.
It may be that you are in the middle of a crisis, lost a job, or a loved one, struggling with difficult emotions, feeling lonely, depressed, stuck, anxious, lost, confused. Or you may be experiencing a general sense of unhappiness, anxiety or dissatisfaction, unsure where these feelings come from and what they mean. Whether you are facing a specific crisis or are feeling generally low, I offer the opportunity to talk about your thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential setting.
My aim, as a therapist, is to listen, and help you understand the sources of your current problems and the meaning of what is happening for you. In our exploration together I will encourage you to share your feelings, reflect on where you are, who you are and how you want things to be. I will not judge you or tell you what to do, but help you free yourself of unwanted thought and behaviour patterns, and find new, more healthy ways, of coping and moving on.
I am an experienced existential psychotherapist, registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and adhere to the Council’s Code of Ethics and Practice, which requires the preservation of confidentiality about the client, as well as respect for the individual’s needs and unique value and belief systems.
My professionally accredited four-year training was with the NSPC (Schiller International University, London) where I obtained an MA in Existential Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Additionally, I completed a two year advanced programme at a highly reputable Regent's College, London, and was awarded an Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I have 18 years experience working in a variety of settings within the public sector, including the NHS, Westminster Bereavement Service, the London Lighthouse, King's College Hospital, and in private practice.
I was employed for 10 years by a London NHS General Practice where I worked therapeutically with individual clients who grappled with a wide range of personal problems.
Since 2002 I have also worked in private practice from a conveniently located consulting room in West London, and undertake long and short term work with individuals.
I am the author of several publications: Journal of the Society for Existential Analysis (11.2, 2000; 12.1, 2001), and Group Analysis, the Journal of Group-Analytic Psychotherapy (2002).
I also trained in mind and body therapy at Core Energetics Institute in London and in the Netherlands.
Attended many professional workshops over the years, which further improved my therapy skills, and is the usual requirement from the UK Council for Psychotherapy as part of my continuing professional development.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
