I use Transactional Analysis (TA) as my main theoretical framework. TA offers a very accessible theory of human development, personality and social interactions. It can assist us in understanding how our life experiences have resulted in us forming fixed and unhelpful views of ourselves which then impacts on the we relate to others. In therapy we can explore the beliefs you hold and how they might be creating barriers to you living the life you would like to live. We will explore and challenge those beliefs with the aim of creating new beliefs and ways of relating that will help rather than hinder you
I am qualified as a Psychotherapist and as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I hold a Msc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and a post graduate diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
I have experience working in private practice, mental health charities and at the NHS. I have worked with a variety of issues, including
anxiety
stress
depression
low self-esteem
bereavement
relationship difficulties
Prior to training as a Psychotherapist I spent 30 years in a career in business & finance. I am therefore aware of the challenges and stress of the workplace and the difficulty of balancing work and home life. My prior experience has also made me aware of the need to keep therapy focused, goal orientated and practical.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
