About Me

About Me

I am an experienced and fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist and can be found at www.therapylounge.org offering private therapy for adults. I have a Masters Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a diploma in Integrative Counselling from The Minster Centre, London. I am a registered member of BACP and I am accredited by the UKCP.

I have worked with a diverse range of clients presenting with issues that are varied and many of which are complex. I offer both short and long-term support including time-limited or focussed/solution-oriented counselling or open-ended more exploratory psychotherapy. We can discuss what you would like or need at an initial appointment.

My aim throughout my work is to support people to make positive changes in their lives through gaining greater awareness and self-acceptance thus allowing better informed and congruent choices for themselves and removing potential blocks to living more effectively.

My approach considers you as a whole person, paying attention to all aspects of your experience and how this may be impacting you which may include work/life balance, physical health or spiritual wellbeing. Through personal and professional experience I have witnessed how therapy acts as a powerful catalyst in promoting greater freedom and connection in our lives by improving emotional wellbeing, relationships and professional or personal potential.

My clinical experience involves providing psychological therapies in an NHS service as well as in a low cost therapy service. I have worked as a counsellor in a number of specialist services including with victims of domestic and sexual abuse and with people whose lives have been impacted by the criminal justice system. I specialise in working with trauma and transitional stages of life. I currently work for a sight loss counselling service and in private practice in London.

Previously I have worked in both creative and educational industries which affords me an understanding of these environments as well as self-employed or organisational issues.

How I Work

I offer a warm supportive, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore your concerns. As an integrative practitioner I have been trained in several different modalities. Therefore I am able to draw from a range of established and contemporary therapeutic theories and methods allowing flexibility in my approach to respond to your individual needs.

My approach is relational and psychodynamic which means the therapeutic relationship forms an important part of the therapeutic process, where I will invite curiosity around what occurs within and between us to gain understanding of unconscious processes and dynamics. We will explore your present and past relationships and experiences to develop a deeper awareness of personal patterns and beliefs and the potential impact of these.

Whilst I understand how early experiences help shape who we are; influencing our sense of self, capacity for emotional regulation and how we function in relationships, I also believe in our capacity for change, given the right conditions. Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to witness, reflect on and revise our relational patterns or fixed ways of being as well as encourage our natural instinct to grow, heal and find meaning in our lives.

My practice embraces an embodied approach paying close attention to the present moment; exploring sensations, feelings, thoughts and dreams to deepen awareness of a psychological process and inform therapeutic interventions. I am interested in how our bodies contain and express experiences of trauma, conflict and psychological pain which can be worked with in therapy to access or understand our emotions as well as promote greater mind/body integration.

I consider therapy to be a collaborative and creative process where we will explore your situation together. I might; offer insight, challenge you or suggest coping strategies or alternative perspectives, enabling you to facilitate change. My approach is creative employing mindful or creative exercises where this feels helpful or relevant to the work.
