David runs Deep Connection which is a well established Mindfulness based Psychotherapy Practice in the heart of Brighton. Mindfulness based psychotherapy takes Buddhist psychology as its starting point, integrates this with Western psychotherapeutic development theory and combines them both with rapidly evolving insights from neuroscience (the study of the brain and the nervous system). This powerful practice allows us to explore and transform our relationship to ourselves and to others by learning to bring a curiousity and a non-judgemental awareness to the whole of our experience in the present moment. This includes our thoughts, our feelings and emotions and our ‘felt-sense’ of sensations or energy moving subtlely through our body. All of these offer us vital information about ourselves which we are mostly unware of because we are so used to living in our minds. By bringing these into our awareness we can then begin to experience and slowly understand for ourselves how these combine with our personal histories and traumas and our memories and beliefs, to create habitual patterns of behaviour and ways of seeing ourselves and the world that no longer serve us. A willingness to explore and work with this in therapy is potentially the beginning of a journey to self-healing, understanding and well-being. If you find this way of working resonates with you, you are very welcome to contact me for a free initial consultation.
