My curiosity in behaviour has driven my interest in mental health and how psychotherapy might help facilitate the process of change and healing. Using a variety of therapeutic interventions, I endeavour to creatively engage in dialogue with a purpose to gain some understanding.
There are no quick fixes and one size does not fit all, for this reason I work directly with what the individual presents as problems or challenges in their lives. Often when working therapeutically and with a focus on the here-and-now — in the moment experiencing, it is possible through new insights for other hidden things to rise to the surface or become clearer and more present.
Working with current situations and paying close attention to empathic attunement and process, together we can explore fixed patterns of behaviour and experiment with what might be habitual ways of relating. The phenomenon of being 'stuck' is a reality for many, so the kind of therapy I offer speaks to a willingness of committing to the process. An openness and the will to work on entrenched difficulties is valuable if adjustment and change is to be realised.
I hold a Masters (MA) in Gestalt Therapy, a Psychotherapy Practitioner Diploma with a focus on both individual and group facilitation, and a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling. Along with UKCP Accreditation I also hold MBACP.
My experience enables me to use an integrative approach when working with presenting issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, various levels of abuse to name a few. I work with adults of all ages from 18+ and my practice is based in West London and Central London areas. I am currently a director of a mental health charity and I offer workshops to trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.
Diversity, equality and inclusion are key parts of a greater whole in society that hold immense importance to how I work with clients. In addition, I have a keen interest in working with how social media can impact the user. Loneliness, loss, isolation and suicide ideation are areas/situations I have experience working with clients. My central aim is to create an environment which is safe and supportive enough for people from all backgrounds to feel that they can bring what they might be carrying, and feel supported enough to begin exploring and processing their situation(s).
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
