My Approach

Integrative Psychotherapy: My integrative model is built on the understanding that as human beings we are all unique, different and complex. I believe there is no single psychotherapeutic approach that suits all clients, issues, contexts and therapists. Therefore, a holistic stance that integrates helpful approaches is important.
My training for the last 10 years (Two master’s degrees and the recent Doctoral programme) involved learning in depth various therapeutic models. Therefore, I have sufficient knowledge of all the modalities in psychotherapy, counselling, and psychology. I feel confident that I will be able to tailor the appropriate treatment/approach that suits you best.

About Me

I am genuinely interested in people and their challenges in life. I am on a doctoral programme called, DCPsych (Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy jointly run by Metanoia/Middlesex University) which gives a dual qualification. After the successful completion of my first doctoral thesis and viva for Psychotherapy training, I am continuing my second doctoral thesis and viva for Counselling/Clinical Psychology now. On successful completion, which is not too far away, I hope to raise my present "Graduate basis for Charted membership" (GBC) to "Charted Psychologist" status soon.

I have been passionate about helping people with their challenges and problems for the last 16 years. During the last five years, I have worked in various places including the NHS along with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) of psychiatric doctors, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, and social workers. I have dealt with variety of issues including addiction recovery, relapse, alcohol abuse, child safeguarding issues, personality disorder, sexual abuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation, relationship issues, personality disorder, depression, anxiety, cognitive deficit, and sexual dysfunction.

In addition to my doctoral training, I also have successful academic credentials; MSC & MEd degrees from Bristol and Exeter universities
I also have an MSc degree in Applied Psychology and three bachelor’s degrees in Economics, Philosophy and Theology from India.

With my personal, professional and academic qualifications and experiences both in India and UK, I feel confident that I can help you with any life or relationship issues, however complex. You will have non-judgemental, supportive assistance throughout.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anger used to be my most challenging emotional difficulty causing physical and psychological problems. Years of personal, clinical and research experiences have taught me that angry outbursts can weaken the immune system and increase stroke and heart risk. Anger can aggravate anxiety and depression shortening one’s life. Years of therapy helped me to understand my anger. Well explored and healthy anger can be a good thing as it can help to express negative feelings and motivate to find solutions to problems. I have helped many people to explore their anger and manage it well.
I am aware family history, stressful events and relationship difficulties can cause depression. The symptoms can include feeling low self-esteem, unhappy or hopeless, finding no pleasure in doing things.
