Most of use needs someone to turn to at difficult times.
Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you come to terms with emotional problems or troubling aspects of your life, and gives you an opportunity to share your concerns with someone skilled at listening and work with you in discovering your full potential. I will work along side you, support you and work with you to sort through your difficulties. I can help you develop new strategies and new ways to connect with your thoughts, feelings, experiences and memories. Working together, we will ensure your inner strengths emerge.
I have a comfortable private office where I can provide a safe and supportive environment. You can expect to find a calm, open-minded professional in me. My approach to therapy places the relationship and trust at the heart of practice so you feel safe to explore your experiences. It is my endeavour to to help you feel cared about, respected and empowered to make changes you want within yourself and with others.
For further information about how I work please visit my website.
I trained as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist at Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold a Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. I have been in private practice since 2012, prior to that, I provided counselling at Winchester University.
Underpinning my therapeutic work is more than thirty years experience in healthcare practice. Having undertaken a degree in Applied Science, I began a career as a Registered Nurse specialising amongst others in mental health, palliative care and medical trauma care. I then undertook further training as a Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health (PG.Dip.) and worked for some years as a consultant within the corporate environment working as advocate and support for people following illness back in their work environment. I also hold a Master of Letters in Peace studies and lived in Asia and Australia for a period of time providing mediation within rural communities. I have a rich experience of people from all backgrounds and very aware of the pressures personal and professional life can bring.
I abide by the UKCP professional code of practice and I receive regular supervision. This is a professional requirement in which both my supervisor and I assure your anonymity. I maintain my practicing skills and knowledge with continuing professional development. I am fully insured.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
