I provide a confidential and safe space for people who are suffering, feeling stuck, or facing unexpected life circumstances, and who are seeking psychoanalytic psychotherapy to discuss their difficulties.
Psychoanalysis is a talking therapy that departs from the position that we are moved by unconscious processes as much as we are by conscious ones.
Our adult life is marked by traces of our early life. Whether we are aware of it or not, the past plays an important part in how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to the situations we encounter.
Through the process of speaking in a psychoanalytic context, and through a specific way of listening by the analyst, the conflicts and fears that underlie our difficulties may gradually become less painful, and something previously unknown can emerge.
Psychoanalysis offers the possibility of creating a new relationship to one’s own history, not by erasing the past, but by finding new ways of understanding and relating to it.
I welcome people of all cultural backgrounds, sexes, sexualities, and gender identities.
You are welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial consultation and discuss the possibility of working together.
I am a psychoanalyst, and I provide psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adults and young adults in English and Portuguese.
My clinical training was with the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR), of which I’m a member.
Before establishing my private practice in London, I gained valuable experience through placements and voluntary work. At City & Guilds of London Art School, I provided talking therapy to students pursuing BA and MA courses. I also worked with the Psychosis Therapy Project (PTP) at Islington Mind, offering psychotherapy to individuals experiencing psychosis. Additionally, I worked with adults in long-term psychotherapy at the Highbury Counselling Centre (HCC) and conducted assessment interviews with new clients. Earlier, I volunteered at Refuge on the National Domestic Abuse Helpline, where I offered listening and support to women facing domestic violence.
I am part of Bubble & Speak, a drop-in established in 2016, inspired by the tradition of La Maison Verte, initiated by French child psychoanalyst Françoise Dolto. We provide a nurturing space for children under four years old, along with their parents and carers, to start socialising and playing. We aim to support young children in the early development of their individuality while also assisting parents and carers in navigating the challenges of raising them.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
