I aim to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where people can make sense of their experiences and feel supported in a caring compassionate way. I am guided by the needs of the people I see, I have a collaborative, strengths based approach. I value transparency and open communication as well as enabling and empowering people to create the changes they wish to make.
My practice is trauma informed and I am experienced in working within the following areas: child and adolescent mental health; low mood, anxiety, eating difficulties, identity development, gender and sexuality; loss, attachment difficulties, developmental trauma; perinatal mental health and families/couples with children under the age of five; adoption and therapeutic parenting; couple and relationship difficulties; domestic violence, addiction, parental mental health, neurodiversity, physical health and illness; cross cultural, minority stress, diversity and social justice issues, work stress; career development challenges.
I have additional training in approaches such as DBT (Dialectic Behavioural Therapy); DDP (Dyadic Developmental Therapy); NVR (Non-Violent Resistance).
In my work I use creative tools including visual and sensory tools such as play, drawing, writing, music, enactments, walking, etc., as a way of ensuring the support provided is adapted to individual needs and is accessible and useful to the people that I work with.
I am a systemic family psychotherapist experienced in working with children, families, couples and individuals across the lifespan. I have worked in NHS, third sector and I have an independent practice. As part of my work I also provide clinical supervision, teaching and training.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
