My practice is an integrative counselling and psychotherapy, using theories and activities or tools that best suit the individual(s). For younger clients, I tend to use play therapy, which helps them express deeper feelings that may be difficult to articulate. As children grow into adolescence, young adulthood and adulthood sessions will incorporate more talking therapy while still maintaining a creative approach.
I have extensive experience working with young clients from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, including those with first-generation immigrant or mixed heritage parents. While living in London can be inspiring, it also adds complexity to the search for identity, which I can help clients navigate.
I have worked for years in a corporate environment and I am aware of the pressures my adult clients are facing while working and living in London. I enjoy connecting with clients from diverse backgrounds. I am also a practitioner of mindfulness and meditation and always endeavour to work holistically.
My practice offers strict confidentiality and a quiet, comfortable private room for our sessions.
I am Dalma, a BACP and UKCP registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, adults and elder individuals in an attachment, trauma and resilience informed way.
Mental health, like physical health, is crucial from the very beginning of life, much before we can analyse or talk eloquently about it. Addressing issues early can prevent long-term suffering and the development of a negative self-image. For this reason, I am dedicated to working with young clients and am here to help if your child is experiencing:
- Anxieties: Separation, school avoidance, social, academic, examination and social media related anxieties as well as concerns about climate and the environment
- Depression: Loss and bereavement
- Relational issues: Bullying, difficulties with family and friends, gaslighting and abuse
- Identity search: Challenges related to mixed-race, adoption or fostering, and navigating family vs. societal values and practices
- Trauma
- Eating and sleeping problems
I also support adult and elderly individuals with their psychological wellbeing, and with particular areas of emotional challenge.
My expertise is to help people who are working to individuate themselves from their past or conditioning, navigating loss and bereavement, working with anxiety, depression and abuse (sexual, physical, emotional and financial). I can also assist with resolving family and relationship issues, supporting women specific issues including fertility as well as other areas of significant change.
My qualifications include:
- MA in Child and Adolescent Counselling and Psychotherapy
- MA in Sociology and Change Management
- Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative (Adult) Counselling
- Diploma in Business Analysis
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
