Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked in Rehabilitation Centres and hubs with people in recovery and active addiction. Finding the root cause of why we are addicted is empowering and life changing.
I work with adults with anger issues and enjoy the times when people gain the understanding that anger is a way we defend against pain or fear- learning how to recognise this empowers us to make different choices.
Feeling that we will never feel any different is a difficult whole to climb out of. Being ‘stuck’ can be exhausting! There is always a way out but this takes commitment and a desire to want better for ourselves. This can be achieved working with a counsellor you feel safe with.
I currently work with people who are referred from Victims of serious crime. I understand that opening up about Domestic violence can be distressing and overwhelming with some feeling ashamed. Working to understand that childhood scenarios can influence our choice of partners can ease the burden of that and help future relationships.
Working with people who have generational trauma can look at the ways they parent due to how thy were raised. Often we have gaps in our own learning which were unaware of. Therapy can help unpick the past with a better understanding of how to move forward in the future.
