I use object relations theory, as a basis for my psychotherapeutic approach. I ensure that my clients feel safe, heard and able to talk openly without judgement. My experience stems from working in mental health in a community therapeutic setting, before embarking on my training many years ago as a psychotherapist.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist. My approach is to use ideas about how we relate to others, and how we perceive our sense of self, to help make better informed choices for ourselves. To discover the patterns that we repeat which are often rooted in childhood, and to make sense of our internal worlds and our relationships. Through therapy we can learn to make better decisions for ourselves, and to implement changes to improve our quality of life. And sometimes it's about accepting what cannot be changed, but having someone to talk to who's not involved in your life outside of the therapy room, can be helpful in the journey to acceptance.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
