I'm trained in a psychodynamic approach, which means that in sessions I think carefully about the way your past experiences sometimes link with present day ways of relating to others, and life choices you may make. I don't offer solutions, as that would involve imposing my views on you. Together we would review what's troubling you or keeping you stuck, and consider how you can release yourself from potentially unhelpful perspectives of yourself and your life. Since the Covid lockdown I've begun offering Zoom (£65) as well as face-to-face (£62) sessions.
Thank you for considering counselling with me. I currently have availability for new referrals.
I am a psychodynamic counsellor who originally trained at Oxford University, with over 20 years of clinical experience. I have worked in the private sector, as well as within a university setting, and the NHS.
With the emphasis on confidentiality, support and impartial understanding I help to identify links between present concerns and problems and relationships and conflicts in the past.
Becoming more self -aware offers a freedom to chose whether and how to change. I also offer support for what cannot change.
I offer 50 minute sessions in both long and short term therapy. Initially we would have an 80 minute session in order to establish whether we can work together, during which you can ask questions about my therapy practice, and the process itself.
My practice is located in a quiet residential road close to Newbury station and the town centre, with ample, free, on-street parking.
I am UKCP accredited and am a member of the BACP, and abide by both codes of ethics.
