I see my background of 30 years in the NHS as a nurse as being important in my approach as a psychotherapist in my understanding of how mental and physical illness are intertwined together.
I make it a priority to establish the working relationship and therapeutic alliance from the start of the work together, as this is a key factor in successful outcomes in therapy.
I monitor how therapy is progressing using outcome measures to see how the client is responding to treatment, and see the client as a partner in this process.
As a Transactional Analyst I use therapy contracts and treatment planning and have a number of tools to identify the clients TA diagnosis.
I am a fully qualified Transactional Analyst (CTA) in Psychotherapy, and am currently a doctoral (PhD) post-graduate researcher with the University of Salford. I have a successful town and rural, small private practice, in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. I see people with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, relationship and bereavement difficulties. I also work with survivors of childhood abuse and rape.
I am able to offer my clients the option of short or long term counselling and psychotherapy to support them successfully through their difficulties. I use CORE outcome measures which monitors the client's baseline well being and their response to treatment.
I offer my clients a relational model of therapy to facilitate the healing process.
I also offer online therapy via Zoom
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
