As a Gestalt therapist, I practise relational, embodied psychotherapy and bring curiosity to what is happening 'here and now' in the present moment. I have a special interest in working with the residual effects of trauma as they show up in the body, and supporting the nervous system to return to regulation.
I hold a Clinical Diploma and an MSc (Merit) in Gestalt Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute / Middlesex University London, and am currently completing advanced clinical training in Somatic Experiencing®(SE). This embodied approach to working with trauma aligns with and enhances my Gestalt practice. I have several years of clinical experience within organisations and in private practice, and have worked with issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, abuse, bereavement and trauma. My professional background is in education and I teach part time. My psychotherapy practice is in Newcastle, Co Down.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
