I have worked in private practice in central London for fifteen years, since qualifying as a psychotherapist and counsellor. I completed a second clinical training in 2012, to deepen my capacity to work with more complex concerns. I am a registered clinical supervisor, and now work half-time in private practice alongside an NHS teaching post at the Tavistock Centre, London.
I am pleased to be contacted by people seeking focused support during a period of change, or longer-term therapy when desired changes seem too hard to achieve. I am familiar with the full variety of reasons that lead people to first contact a counsellor or therapist. Many people in my practice want to make sense of difficult family relationships with their parents; their children; their siblings; their partners. It is often helpful to think inter-generationally about these patterns, which quite easily get activated in the workplace ‘family’ too. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy has a long history of addressing these problems in careful detail, and is my usual approach to clinical practice.
I am an approved training therapist for a number of integrative, psychodynamic and psychoanalytic trainings in London and I am confident offering a second experience of personal therapy to qualified practitioners. I offer clinical supervision one-to-one and in small groups. For colleagues working mostly one-to-one in private practice, becoming a member of a supervision group can be a very welcome and useful change of gear in the working week, where we can attend to the nuances of dyadic relationships with a view from a different place.
