- Individual and couples psychotherapist -
I am a qualified Gestalt psychotherapist. Gestalt Psychotherapy is an holistic form of therapy that focuses on the individual experience in the present moment and tries to include the whole person (body, mind, feelings spirituality etc.) together with the context of the person's life.
I cover a wide range of issues including:
depression
addiction
stress
sexuality challenges
self harm
suicidal thoughts
existential meaningless
spirituality longing
anxiety
panic attacks
relationship break-up
bereavement and loss
coping with abuse
cultural challenges
working through crisis and trauma.
I work holistically and creatively, where I focus on the client as a unique individual shuttling between different dimensions, from the awareness of body sensations, to feelings, wishes, rational thoughts or whatever is present and important for my client at the moment.
I use instruments that are complex and simple at the same time, like the phenomenological enquiry, that allows me to get closer to the subjective world of my client to attempt to look at things from her (his) point of view, and the dialogical relationship, where the relational dynamics between psychotherapist and client become central for the healing process.
Gestalt is also experiential and change often happens through the direct experience of something new, not just talking about things. the nature of the experiment depends on the client`s problems and what the person is currently experiencing. I ask the person to actively explore herself concentrating on aspects of her physical functioning and/or dreams, fantasies, memories, until everything comes into life in the therapy hour pushing the person to the edges where her growth needs to take place.
My interest in counselling and psychotherapy arises from my own life experience and challenges. I welcome all kind of clients, adults and adolescents, individuals and couples. I value diversity and believe that every person has her own unique journey that enables her to live life more fully.
I see counselling as a more specific time limited form of therapy where therapist and client focus on a particular issue, whereas psychotherapy refers to a more open ended journey where core issues can be freely explored, eventually leading to long term deep changes.
I work primarily in English, but sessions can also be held in Italian.
I offer psychotherapy and counselling to adults, couples and adolescents.
I am interested in Existential Phenomenology and I feel at ease in discussing existential themes like freedom, choice, responsibility, meaning and death.
