My Approach

Happiness has been suggested by ancient philosophers as a habit we must practice rather than something that happens to us. There are times in our life when we struggle with the idea of happiness.
Certain experiences and events can make it more difficult to cope and find a way through.

My approach is integrated from transactional analysis; the social and behavioural study of human interaction. Attachment theory; the first patterns of relating formed via parents and family experiences, and existentialism; the philosophy of how we manage ‘being’ in the world. I ask who we are in the world, what we want in our lives and how we make our choices.

About Me

As an experienced transactional analysis counsellor I provide a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space. I see the therapeutic relationship as being an anchor during times when life can feel overwhelming and see people as unique beings each with their own story. I work intuitively and with compassion believing everyone has the right to feel understood.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have had years working in the NHS as a practice counsellor attached to GP surgeries working closely with clients suffering from anxiety and depression.
I am born in this country with a Sri Lankan heritage and part of a mixed race family. I work with clients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, exploring and addressing cultural issues and their impact on our mental health.
I have had years working in the NHS as a practice counsellor attached to GP surgeries working closely with clients suffering from anxiety and depression.
With a background in Transactional Analysis I work with clients to explore the challenges brought about by family dynamics, our place within them and how we go on to interact and form relationships using specific patterns of behaviour.
I am an in-house counsellor for a charity called Rahab which works specifically with those who are victims of trauma.
