My Approach

I work in an integrative way, which means that I am able to draw upon ideas from several schools of thought about how we as people come to be as we are. I am critical of the biomedical model of human distress and do not subscribe to systems of diagnosis or the use of terms like disorder as the evidence for such systems is weak. I am also aware of issues around prescribed psychiatric drug dependence and withdrawal.

About Me

Dr Anne Guy: I am a registered and accredited psychotherapist who offers face to face counselling and psychotherapy for individuals aged over 18 in the Basingstoke and North Hampshire area. I aim to be non-judgemental and welcoming and it’s important to me to help create a warm relationship that will enable you to talk about whatever you need to. I draw on a variety of theories as I don't believe one size fits all. Whilst I do have a research interest in how the western approach to medicine impacts people and how they view their experiences, sessions are led by whatever is important for you to talk about.
