My Approach

I believe the therapeutic relationship is instrumental to affecting change for clients and that is why I offer a free 30 minutes for us to meet, for me to find out what brings you to therapy, what you wish to get from it, and this enables me to assess if I am the right therapist for you.
If we decide to work together, I work collaboratively to enable you to identify your strengths and areas for growth and build resilience to bring about change. Being an attuned therapist who not only seeks to understand someone's experience, I provide space for you to make sense of your problems and emotions without judgement, a confidential and empathic working relationship where you can talk about relationships, situations and experiences which you may not be able to discuss with anyone else.

About Me

I chose to train in Transactional Analysis (TA) because its philosophy resonated with me – ‘Everyone is OK, we all have the capacity to change, and we all decide our own destiny and these decisions can be changed’.
Prior to deciding to retrain as a psychotherapist I had a varied career and work history; seamstress, retail security management and investigation as well as hospitality work.
I work with adults, individuals or couples, working through emotional problems, mental health issues or behavioural changes.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

The experience of anxiety is no joke and its nastier brother, panic attack is even worse. Therapy enables you to understand the roots of your anxiety and learn to relate to these sensations in new ways can help you overcome anxiety and for some people eliminate it altogether.
Relationship therapy is effective if you are looking to resolve issues between you. We often expect a lot from our partners; emotional soulmates, faithful sexual partners, perfect parents, and unwavering allies through life's many storms. Any build-up of resentment from unresolved issues, whether in your relationship or from others, tends to then surface in your discussions turning them into arguments. Relationship therapy is more frequently used by couples however it can be effective for other relationships (siblings, parent/adult child, friends).
Quite different from its distant cousin sadness, depression can feel crippling and hold people in its grip that may completely alter the colour of their life. If this sounds like you, our work is to enable you to understand and appreciate your inner world and so retune your life’s colour settings.
Whether friendships, neighbours, work colleagues, family and partner, we are surrounded by relationships. When they work well they can be amazing but some can be the source of upset and pain. If you are experiencing challenging relationships or you see a pattern of how you relate to others then talking therapy provides a safe and importantly, a confidential space, to better understand your experience.
It is easy to forget stress is subjective. We do not all get stressed by the same experiences. Understanding your own stress causes and consequences enables you to make changes to your life to prevent or address your stress. This liberating therapeutic work can be life changing.
