My main aim is to allow clients to feel welcome and comfortable with me. While we get to know each other I am looking for what your interests are, whether you are creative or playful, interested in meditation or if you'd prefer to talk.
My main 'language' is art and I will always return to my roots which means that I can use art in a wide variety of ways from 2D to 3D as well as multi-media. I have integrated Sand Tray work into my therapy, as well as drumming, music, play, sport and dance. Somatic work and different theoretical models such as TA and Gestalt.
My name is Anna-Lou and I am a trained, accredited and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist (UK, 2023) and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (UK, 2020) with my initial training in Art Therapy (The Netherlands, 2006) who specialises in developmental trauma. My fields of specialism are victims of crime, domestic violence and sexual violence as well as cared for children, fostering and adoption. I work predominantly with children and young people but can on occasion work with adults. I am based in Jarrow and I also work in all communities throughout North and South Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Northumberland. I am a proud member of CCC, a private practitioner and I am a Clinical Coordinator at Children North East. I can work in-person and online.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
