My Approach

I take an eclectic approach to therapy because I believe there is no one-size-fits-all model when it comes to being an individual, a family, or a couple. Each person and relationship is unique, shaped by different experiences, identities, and cultural contexts.

At the heart of my work is a commitment to creating a space that is truly yours, where you feel seen, heard, and safe to explore. Together, we will find the approach that best fits you, your story, and your goals. Whether working with individuals, families, or couples, I adapt my methods to support meaningful growth, understanding, and connection.

About Me

I bring over 25 years of experience working within the NHS mental health services, where I have supported individuals, families, and teams across a wide range of settings. I hold a Master’s degree in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy, which underpins my relational and holistic approach to therapeutic work. I am a Black African woman with a deep passion for family and relationships. My lived experience as a migrant and my journey of settling into a new culture have profoundly shaped my therapeutic practice. Being in an interracial marriage has given me rich insight into the complexities of identity, belonging, and the intersections of race, culture, and gender. These perspectives inform my understanding of how societal and personal narratives can shape the way we relate to ourselves and others.

I am especially passionate about supporting parents in raising strong, open-minded children who become future citizens who are emotionally aware, inclusive, and grounded. I also work with couples of all gender identities and sexual orientations, helping them explore the dynamics that affect their connection, communication, and growth.

My approach is warm, reflective, and inclusive. I offer a safe space where clients can explore their histories, identities, and relationships with honesty and compassion.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I am deeply passionate about the role culture plays in shaping our identities and experiences. In therapy, I emphasize the importance of acknowledging both local cultural contexts and the broader societal forces that influence individuals, families, and communities. I believe that understanding cultural dynamics is essential for meaningful healing and growth. I have a particular passion for African cultures and heritage, and I work with families to explore and support emotional emancipation and healing. By integrating cultural awareness into the therapeutic process, I aim to help clients reconnect with their roots, embrace their identities, and navigate the challenges that arise from the intersections of cultural and systemic issues.
Family is at the heart of my therapeutic work, and I am deeply committed to helping families navigate their unique challenges. Whether addressing communication breakdowns, generational patterns, or the dynamics of blended families, I work with families to create healthier, more supportive relationships. I believe that understanding family dynamics is key to fostering an environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and valued. My approach is holistic, considering both individual needs and the collective needs of the family system. I support families in strengthening bonds, resolving conflicts, and developing strategies for effective communication and emotional support. Every family is different, and my goal is to tailor the therapy process to suit your family’s unique structure and needs, helping you build a stronger, more connected family unit.
Life can be challenging, and the impact of events like the Covid-19 pandemic has only amplified the strain on our mental well-being. Navigating through such times can affect our emotional resilience, relationships, and overall mental health. With over 25 years of experience working in mental health, I bring a wealth of knowledge in addressing a broad spectrum of mental health concerns. I am well-versed in supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, and the emotional toll of significant life changes. My approach is empathetic and understanding, grounded in both clinical experience and a deep appreciation of the complexities of human emotions.
I have a genuine passion for working with couples and supporting them in discovering what they truly want from their relationship. My aim is to help partners navigate the complexities of their dynamic, fostering growth both individually and as a couple. Through open dialogue and mutual understanding, we explore how each person can be the best version of themselves, while also strengthening their connection. My approach focuses on nurturing healthy communication, resolving conflicts, and building a deeper sense of intimacy and trust. Together, we work towards creating a relationship that not only survives but thrives; one where both partners feel valued, understood, and empowered.
