My therapeutic approach is relational and developmental model of Integrative psychotherapy with a Gestalt model at the heart. This means that I will reflect with you on how you relate to yourself, other people and with me. This will help you in becoming more aware of who you are and how you support or interrupt contact in service of better relationship with self and others.
I have 17yrs+ experience of working as a therapist in NHS, private practice and voluntary sector and during this time I have noticed that many people are interested in what happens for them on the inside, how they relate to themselves and in what happens between them and others.
During my career I have managed counselling services in the NHS, voluntary and private sectors and I work as a counsellor, psychotherapist, trainer, supervisor, mediator and coach in the UK and Europe. The areas I have the most experience of working with are: workplace issues; sexual exploitation and violence; working with adults who have experienced childhood trauma; depression; loss (through death; end of relationship; or loss of health, status, work etc) and addictions.
The therapeutic relationship can be supportive and at times it can also be challenging because I will be encouraging you to reflect on yourself and events in quite a different way. Therapy, where successful, can help you develop a more satisfying relationship with yourself and others to support you in building a richer life.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
