I was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and before settling in Paris I lived in Italy, France, Jersey (UK), and Spain. My own experience of displacement, together with building a multilingual family and being part of a cross-cultural lesbian couple, has made me especially sensitive to the challenges of living outside one’s country of origin and navigating diverse family or relationship contexts. I offer therapy in English, French, Russian, and Italian.
I trained in Integrative Psychotherapy in Jersey and practiced in Madrid until 2015. I am accredited by the European Association of Integrative Psychotherapy and the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), and I hold both the European Certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy and the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP).
Currently, I am completing my doctorate (DPsych) at Middlesex University, London. My research focuses on displaced individuals, therapy with multilinguals, and relational therapy online. Alongside individual work, I also work with cross-cultural couples and families, and I co-lead an ongoing interpersonal therapy group. I offer peer consultations for colleagues interested in displacement and gender, and I facilitate an online supervision group.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a writer for television and cinema—an experience that continues to inform my approach. I see therapy as a way of engaging with the narratives of our lives—exploring what has been told, what may be missing, and how meaning can emerge from memory and experience. As Erving Polster reminds us, every life is worth a novel.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
