My Approach

I am a warm and reflective person and my practice is grounded in compassion and integrity, helping to create a non-judgemental, safe space. I invite you to bring and explore your inner world; including your anxieties, feelings and desires. My person-centred, humanistic approach allows you to be seen and heard and supports you in shifting perspectives and developing a more integrated and robust sense-of-self. I work collaboratively to build a therapeutic relationship with you. I am always alongside you, working at your pace and supporting you on your journey, allowing you to explore and find the potential for positive change and growth.

I have wide experience working with depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. I have extensive experience working with emotional difficulty, dysfunction, trauma, shame, abuse, developmental neglect, abandonment issues, loss, illness and bereavement. I also have particular interest and experience around the complexities and discourses of identity; including race, gender, sexuality and disability. I understand that todays world is an often lonely, disorienting and dehumanising place and I support my clients to gather their thoughts, find their voice, experience themselves anew and make change.

About Me

I am from London and I have an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. I have more than a decade’s experience of working in a one-to-one capacity with clients. I have also trained to work with groups and have worked since 2016 as a group psychotherapist and clinical practitioner with the NHS in East London.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

We feel anxiety about the future and about what will happen, or we might feel anxious about ourselves, convinced that we are not good enough for others in some way. We might feel anxious about specific things but often we can struggle with a sense of general anxiety - we feel anxious but we don't know why. Anxiety can come in the form of intrusive thoughts and catastrophising or it may leave us too scared to leave our home or to form relationships.
Depression can come in different forms. We may feel desperate and intense feelings of low mood which can bring self destructive behaviour, even suicidal feelings. We might experience an absence of feelings, an emptiness or a disconnect from our feelings, or cut-off from our physical bodies at times. Or we may have lived with depression for years without realising or admitting to ourselves that we would like to feel better, more connected, more motivated in our lives.
Who am I? Where do I fit? Do I fit anywhere? How do others see me? How do I feel that others see me? We identify ourselves and are identified by others by our race, gender, sexuality, class and also by many other categories. This might help us with our sense of identity or might leave us feeling labelled or judged.
Trauma is an emotional response to a negative event that overwhelms a person's ability to cope. We all suffer experiences which overwhelm us through our lives, often we might be able to shake off the shock of the overwhelming experience but there are times when we cannot do this and the experience stays with us and is trapped within us. When this happens the feelings of being overwhelmed can stay with us or return to us long after the experience has ended. We understand more easily the concept of a traumatic event, such as an accident or assault but we also hold trauma from childhood experiences of being scared and unprotected, and we can also experience trauma through ongoing situations
