My Approach

I am passionate about the value to our health of a loving family, be that blood, or people we choose to walk life with.
I have over thirty years experience supporting and empowering people.
I do not believe in the limitations of diagnosis and my passion is to find understanding in what many call symptoms, and what I call responses to life's experiences. Together we can explore and discover the fundamental roots of issues to create positive change.
My training, practice and interest is as a systemic psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, where people are understood and listened to from within their system and context, considering their interrelationships with each other.
Systemic family therapy has been found to be effective for children's and adults' difficulties, across the lifecycle, spanning all developmental stages from babies to old age.
I work with individuals therapeutically, in couples or with their families and/or significant others. This enables the use of individuals’ relationships as a resource, and reduces stress and difficulties for all family members.
My lens is not through a diagnostic label, nor a trauma informed one. My lens is via a compassionate human to human perspective. Any one of us can need support at anytime in life, my approach is to support you to find your way through.
I am always happy to have an initial conversation so we can feel together if we are a good fit.

About Me

Primarily I am a mother, a grandmother and a dog lover.
These roots are my own foundations that underpin my work, passion and my belief that it is a privilege working as a therapist. I always hold onto what an honour it is to be alongside supporting people, either in their good or bad times, and I feel blessed to be able to do my work.
I have worked in both the NHS and private practice, in CAHMS, in community and on the wards, with both children, adults and families.
I am in my heart a systemic thinker and I am deeply committed to walking alongside my clients transparently, with integrity and with my own sprinkling of maverick therapy.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have a deep and personal understanding of Bulimia. I view it as a response to situations and I have had many years of experience working in this area.
Family psychotherapy focuses on the relationships and spaces inbetween people. I try to listen with my body to what is not said, or to what feels too hard to say. Working closely and paying attention to body language and the emotions in the room
I am interested in how our roots create patterns in adulthood.
I feel passionately in what people label as mental health issues. In my experience, even in extreme states in acute settings, our bodies are communicating. My role is to listen harder to understand what is happening and has happened in a persons life to help them to make sense again.
I believe that it is indeed vital to consider suicide prevention. However, I believe in suicide narratives. Stopping suicide is primary, but listening to why someone feels as they do is the compassionate human to human response.
