My Approach

My systemic approach is explorative and holistic with focus on collaboration and co-creation. My focus is on learning and practising together to understand and transform emotional pain and relationship difficulties.

About Me

I am an experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapist. I work with a broad range of clients for the NHS and in the private sector. I offer systemic psychotherapy to families, couples and individuals. I also offer specialist assessments and evidence based reports. More recently I have worked in South Asia where I pioneered a family and couples therapy clinic which I still support.

I work with

  • Children and young people
  • Companies
  • Couples
  • Families
  • Groups
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have become increasingly interested in age-related issues as I have become older myself! And with this I have also become more aware of the need for more open and creative approaches to later-life services. As a systemic psychotherapist I want to contribute to a focus for systemic therapy for older people. For example to improve emotional and psychological support for physical and cognitive limitations, disability, loss and bereavement
In systemic language a couple is a "two person system". Either one or both persons of a couple can benefit from systemic couple therapy. The couple choose how they wish to attend. My approach is whether you come alone or as part of a couple, you are looking to understand better your relationship history and explore possibilities.
The challenges of negotiating and re-negotiating life transitions are present at every stage of individual development and across generations. Systemic psychotherapy benefits from having evolved through an integration of psychotherapeutic perspectives to allow flexibility and encouragement for therapeutic engagement. Both families and individuals can use a systemic approach to recognise legacies of family beliefs and patterns to gain agency and effect change. .
Humans need connection. Essential to our survival are other human beings. My interest as a therapist working with relationships is to help you thrive in relationships you can feels safe in and to form healthy attachments to develop a secure sense of yourself in the world.
"You don't have to be a soldier in combat to experience Trauma....(it) happens to us, our friends, our families and our neighbours" (Van der Kolk, 2014), Trauma and it's impact has been central to my work experience. I am firmly of the belief that it is how we respond and help others to respond to trauma that can make the difference. Through the therapeutic processing of trauma we find our resilience and healing. Not only is this essential for ourselves and our own well being, but I believe it is essential for our world.
