My Approach

My belief is we often know ourselves better than we think. We have, deep within ourselves, the resources to overcome the difficulties we face. However, challenging circumstances can be so distressing that we lose faith in ourselves, and in our judgement. Often, we can lose confidence, feel overwhelmed, lost and stuck, unable to see any hope or path forward. I am here to help, and guide you, by offering a safe space, where you will be listened to with empathy, warmth, without judgement or analysis, and feel heard and validated. This can potentially help you to make sense of your experience and see a way forward. I find clients often use the space to explore their values and begin to recognise entrenched beliefs and patterns that no longer serve them. Counselling offers an opportunity for change and healing.

About Me

I am a person-centred psychotherapist and counsellor. I have learned people often don’t need advice or solutions. They need someone who will listen, care and understand them. From both personal and professional experience, I have a deep understanding of the challenges many of us face in life. I can help clients with difficulties including grief, relationship issues, separation and divorce, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, sadness, stress, loneliness, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, childhood trauma, living with pain and disability. Or perhaps you are feeling really anxious or low and you don’t understand why but just need to talk to somebody. It can be daunting approaching a therapist, especially when feeling vulnerable. For this reason, it is important to find the right therapist. I offer a free 15-minute online zoom session to give you a chance to see if I might be the right fit for you.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Loss and bereavement affects us all in such different ways. We can experience deep pain and grief, not only losing loved ones, but also losing a job, a home, a beloved pet. Sometimes grief can be complex and it can really help talking about our loss and how it is impacting us.
I have a strong interest in how our bodies and minds are one; there is no split. When we feel stressed or anxious, our body lets us know. I strongly believe counselling isn't solely about relieving mental distress and anguish. It can also help relieve physical pain and discomfort. Counselling can work holistically.
Our childhood relationships, especially with a parent or a caregiver, play a fundamental role in our future relationships. If we were brought up in a hostile environment, where we didn't feel safe to be ourselves, and weren't able to form secure attachments, can profoundly impact our adulthood, and our ability to trust in others.
